Lurking in the shadows

Last year we didn't have a club hunt due to my slackness. Are you interested in looking for a Moose this year when the weather cools off a bit ? It will possibly be in the Eskdale, Buckland or Rose River area and be held over a weekend. You will need a DSE deer license and some form of Blaze orange apparel for safety reasons. I will try to make it in an area that is accessible by standard vehicles depending on numbers.

Maybe you will share in this sort of joy!

Cheers, Dale.

I have received a PM from Mark regarding his work commitments that require him to work weekends, I am quite negotiable as to what weekend this hunt could be on, very negotiable in fact, as I have not decided as to what weekend yet. I am looking around July, August or September even. You have plenty of time to let me know so I can work around you guys, when it is decided, I will give you an amount of notice. I would like quite a showing as it is a good weekend to get out and hunt/socialize.

Cheers. Dale.

Hi there My Son and I are only new members to the club but would like to try hunting in due course. We would be interested in coming along on a club hunting activity.

Due to the nature of rostering at work, later in the year would be better, say late July or early August.

Regards,

Brian.

I have decided the club hunt will take place on the last weekend in August.

The camp spot is 13 kilometers south of the Eskdale pub on the Little Snowy creek.

It is quite accessible via 2WD.

Let me know if you would like to attend, I will be out at the club over the next few shoots if you need further information.

Cheers. Dale.

PS, Hope you don't mind a couple of rank amateurs tagging along.

If you click on the link below and open up map 20 you will see the words MOUNT ELMO down toward the bottom in the middle. Camp will be 3 squares above the word ELMO, opposite the track that comes in from the left.

There should be enough room for a number of vehicles and campers beside the creek.

Aaron is hoping to get up there nice and early, this should give people that have not been there someone to look for.

Any other questions that you may have just ask at the club shoots or here if you cannot get there.

Cheers. Dale.

Shane asked me a question today that I had overlooked when discussing things, "what do I need to bring?"

Here are some suggestions!

Something to sleep in and under. Swag and tarp or tent.
Something to eat for the two and a half days.
Something to cook with and eat off.
Something to sit on around the fire.
Clothes, both normal and camo for all weather conditions (including something blaze orange), can get very cold!
Archery equipment, bow/s and arrows. MAKE SURE YOUR ARROWS FLY STRAIGHT WITH YOUR BROADHEADS!
Comfortable footwear.
Day pack or backpack.
Camera.
GPS.
Anything else you would normally, or want to take for a weekend away.

Cheers. Dale.

This may a bit short notice, but two things,

1, Is the club hunt still on, given the predicted weather, and

2, What time will Aaron be there, as I now have tomorrow off I thought I might get up there a bit early to set up my tent etc. (saves having to do it in the dark and possibly rain.)

Cheers,

Brian.

The hunt is still on Brian. I do not know what time Aaron will be there but I hope to be there around 3 'clock.

Should you have any doubts as where to go give me a buzz today before lunch. 0418 438 214.

Cheers. Dale.

Hi All,

The young bloke and I had a great time at the Club Sambar Hunt. Didn't see any deer but we learned a  lot. Thanks to all who made the weekend enjoyable.

Cheers,

Brian (x2)
